En42

En 42 spring steel can be used in the manufacture of various types of spring. It is equal to CS70 and CS80 grades. This steel is available in flat, squares and rounds. It is supplied in annealed condition and suitable for bending, shaping and forming, before final heat treatment.

En42J

EN42J is also available as leaded (EN42J Pb) for enhanced mach inability usually supplied the untreated and cold finished (cold drawn or centerless turned) condition. EN42J is widely used for the manufacture of components requiring superior surface finish with high production rates. EN42J is a very popular grade of low carbon-manganese free cutting steel, which is most suitable for the manufacture of repetition turned components, such as nuts, bolts, hydraulic fittings and studs, particularly where intricate drilling and machining operations are involved. It can be case-hardened, producing components with enhanced wear resistant.

EN45

EN45 is a silicon manganese spring steel, supplied in the as rolled condition. This steel is suitable for oil hardening and tempering.

Hardening:
Pre heat slowly to 650/700°C and thoroughly soak. Continue heating to the final hardening temperature of 870/930°C and allow the component to be heated through. Quench in oil.

Tempering:
Temper immediately after quenching whilst tools are still hand warm. Re-heat to the tempering temperature, soak for one hour per 25 millimetre of total thickness, 2 hours minimum, and then cool in air. For most applications tempering will be between 400°/550°C.

EN47

EN47 is a tough oil quenching spring steel which, when heat treated, offers good wear resistance. EN47 is a chromium vanadium spring steel (approx. 0.50% carbon), It is suitable for oil hardening and tempering.  EN47 is high quality spring steel giving good wear resistance after heat treatment.

Forging:
Forge at 1050°C. Do not work this steel when it has fallen below 840°C.

Annealing:
Slow furnace cool from 840°/860°C.

Hardening:
Pre heat slowly to 650/700°C and thoroughly soak. Continue heating to the final hardening temperature of 850/870°C and allow the component to be heated through. Quench in oil.

Tempering:
Temper immediately after quenching whilst tools are still hand warm. Re-heat to the tempering temperature, soak for one hour per 25 millimeter of total thickness, 2 hours minimum, and then cool in air. For most applications tempering will be between 400°/600°C.

Applications

EN47 is used widely in the motor vehicle industry and many general engineering applications. Suitable for applications that require high tensile strength and toughness. Typical applications include crankshafts, steering knuckles, gears, spindles and pumps.

Annealing of SUP9 Spring Steel

Slowly heated to 740-770 ℃ and allow enough times, let the steel to be thoroughly heated, then cool slowly in the furnace. The SUP9 tool steel will get MAX 250 HB (Brinell hardness).

Hardening of SUP9 Spring Steel

SUP9 steels should be heated uniformly to 830-860°C (1526-1580°F) until completely heated through. About 30 min per 25 mm of ruling section is to be provided and then the steels should be immediately quenched in oil.

Tempering of SUP9 Spring Steel

Tempering of SUP9 steels is performed at 460-510°C, Soak well at the selected temperature and soak for at least one hour per 25mm of total thickness.

Applications

SUP9 steels, Highlight the advantage is good harden ability, another hot working performance, comprehensive mechanical properties, Denitrification resistance is also good big cross section of various important spring, such as automobile, locomotive, large plate spring, spring, etc. SUP9 Spring main used for heavy vehicles, tractors, industrial production load, stress and the diameter of the larger plate spring and helical spring.
